Leakproof Hard-Liner Coolers

Leakproof is used very loosely. A bag with a coated liner and stitched seams is water resistant — it will cope with condensation and a spill, and it will not hold half a litre of melted ice in a car.

A genuinely leakproof cooler has a welded, seamless liner with no stitch holes below the fill line at all. That is a different construction and a different price, and it is the only version we will describe with the word.

It is worth it wherever melted ice is guaranteed: a full day out, a fishing trip, catering transport, anything that travels in a vehicle. It is not worth it for a lunch bag, and we will say so.
